The social cultural exhibition project TheirStory, Ihre Geschichten, collects and archieves the stories of people, who came to Germany and communities that have experienced racism or discrimination, and gives their stories a platform. The project invites to participate and explore diversity in various ways.
TheirStory is derived from history. While history refers to the study of past events and is recorded and spread by majorities, TheirStory refers to narritives from the perspective of people who are heard to little or not at all.
The project TheirStory, Ihre Geschichten is a labour market measure funded by the Jobcenter. The participants of the project come from different professional fields and work together in the project group. They are all culturally, politically and/or artistically interested and use their participation in this project to gain experience in artistic professions such as journalism, visual communication and art education and to contribute to a more open and diverse society. As recipients of Bürgergeld, the participants themselves are affected by social exclusion and stigmatisation and counteract many prejudices with this project.
